ENJOY THIS EPISODE:
Lee Anderson, better known as Mr. Lee to his students, takes us on a journey from his days when he was a young 8 year old looking for an activity to do in the summer. His mom noticed some neighborhood children wearing karate outfits and she immediately enrolled her son in Karate. ‘Mr. Lee’ has been involved in martial arts and karate ever since teaching thousands of kids throughout the years.
Then the opportunity came to run the Kicks Karate in Urbana and he jumped at the opportunity. Kicks Karate focuses on the long-term development of children starting them at a young age and helping them take a journey through multiple belt tests. Kicks strives to achieve personal growth with each participant and can individualize coaching if needed.
Mr. Lee goes into depth on the 5 five benefits of karate:
1- Stretching- Kids start at a young age learning how to properly stretch and done properly, promotes flexibility.
2- Muscle Development- Part of the discipline of Kicks Karate is to promote muscle development from physical activity.
3- Mental Development- Students learn self confidence and mental growth through structured activity.
4- Discipline- There is a certain discipline it takes to move from one belt to another in Karate.
5- Personal Accomplishments- At Kicks, and karate as a whole, the sense of accomplishment that the students achieve going from one level, one belt to the next promotes long-term benefits from setting goals and attaining those goals.
If you want to find out more about Karate and Kicks, pop in to see Mr. Lee at the Kicks Karate Studio in the Giant Shopping Center in Urbana, directly across from the public library.
