ENJOY THIS EPISODE:
Dr. Menocal shares his story of being born in Cuba, his family leaving ‘the island’ for a better live in the United States. However, there were a few detours in his journey that finally lead him to Maryland in the early 1980s.
Dr. Menocal completed his residency in Family Medicine from Georgetown University, after completing his medical degree from Universidad Javeriana school of Medicine. Bogota, Colombia in 1982.
He and his wife moved to Frederick and Dr. Menocal joined a small family practice run by Dr. Riddick and Dr. Hickey that was in the shadows of Frederick Memorial Hospital. He quickly became a partner in the practice and as Dr. Riddick and Dr. Hickey were nearing retirement, Dr. Menocal partnered with another young physician, Dr. Casagrande.
They grew this practice into ‘Parkview Medical Group’, one of the largest family practices in Frederick County and with growth came a merger with the regional healthcare system of Frederick Memorial Hospital.
About this time, Dr. Menocal saw a need for the ‘under-served’ community in Frederick. Newborns and Infants of this demographic were not receiving proper healthcare and immunizations so Dr. Menocal vowed that he would start a practice helping the under served community and that he ‘would never turn away a patient’. After 9 years of running his own practice, Menocal Family Practice, Dr. Menocal has personally given tens of thousands vaccines newborns and infants and has impacted thousands of lives in Frederick and surrounding areas.
His practice has grown to the point where his demand has grown and he has 2 other satellite offices to serve area residents.
Although his practice was founded for Newborns and Infants, he has many clients that have followed him from his Parkview Medical Group days and sees any age demographic.
Menocal Family Practice accepts cash, credit, and most insurances.
He still lives in the area and has 2 grown children that are making their own paths in their lives. You can hear the ‘proud papa’ talk about his daughter Natalia, and son Andres.
If you are looking for a physician/provider that always looks out for his patients and is avid in giving back to the community, look no further than Dr. Julio Menocal.
